Hello and welcome to Starborough  Silken Windhounds, sister site of Starborough Borzoi.

When we decided to build this site I wanted it to be for the "layperson", someone who had seen this gorgeous breed and wanted to know more about life with a Silken.

What will follow will be our introduction to Silkens written by Lorraine Marchant of the Starborough Kennels.

"I first saw Silkens whilst on a borzoi judging trip in Finland and fell in love with them, the dream was born.  A few years later George and I went with Rob & Gill to the World Show where Helena had Cocoa there, Gill was smitten too so I suggested a partnership to bring the first in.  Unfortunatley, when the first so called LHWhippets were born the English Whippet breeders naturally were not amused, it has now been proved that there is pastoral in there and I am always careful to mention this when telling people about the breed."

And that was that!

Lorraine and the Starborough kennels in partnership with Endevor bought over Fira from Susann Stjernborg of Starcastle Hounds.

In July 2006 the first Uk litter of Silken Windhounds arrived, four bitches.

At this point Lorraine signed over complete ownership of Fira to Endevor

We kept two of the puppies Indie who lives with us in the midlands and hopefully the matriach of a successful line of "Starborough Silkens", the other pup went to Sarah in the west country of England who has loved Silkens longer than us!
