Davis also do free of charge the MDR1 test (ivermectin sensitvity) for the Silkens. My understanding is that because this is a research program that they run the tests in batches so may only test 3-4 times a year.
For those of you who would like an answer as to whether their dog is a carrier or not sooner, you can the test done in the UK but you will have to pay.
If you decide to pay for your test please please send off buccal swabs to Davis as well. They do much more than just MDR1 testing. As Silkens have a small gene pool at the moment they are DNA mapping the breed, you can find more information about this at the Davis website or the International Silken Windhound site.
